Russia to ramp up imports substitution in defense sector

MOSCOW, Apr 4 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is working to ramp up imports substitution in the defense sector, including on state support to system-forming industries, the Kremlin said in a statement on Monday following a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov and President Vladimir Putin.

“Yury Borisov added that the government was systematically working to speed up dynamics and volumes of imports substitution with a due support of system-forming industries,” the statement read.

Compliance with the parameters of the state order is of utmost priority for the defense industry under unprecedented sanctions. In 2021, the state defense order was fulfilled by at least 98%, and this year, implementation of the order is going even faster on some positions, Borisov told Putin.

He also said that preparation of reference data for the next state program for weapon production had been finished, and the program would be submitted to Putin before mid-2023.

Among the measures that should ensure stability of the defense sector, the government expanded the limit of prepayment under procurements of electronic components to 100%, and allowed companies to sign defense order contracts with single suppliers without registration in the Federal Antimonopoly Service and at approximate prices that do not exceed the figures in the state defense order, he said.
